I'm focused on building beautiful products that solve real problems.
Caura is an app to help UK drivers manage all aspects of owning a car. From Tax & Insurance, to Tolls & Charges (e.g. London's ULEZ charge).
Caura now has over 250,000 users in the UK, with much-loved Android & iOS apps (rated 4.8 on the App Store).
I joined Caura in 2021 as the first dedicated Product Designer.
A lot has changed since then, including significant company growth (and a new UI paint job!)
I 'lead' Product Design at Caura (the 'Product Design' team is a team of one!). This means I design all of the products & features end-to-end, from wireframe ideation to high-fidelity UI polish and micro interactions.
I manage the design & implementation of Caura's four core digital properties:
I also developed & manage v1 of Caura's own proprietary Design System, in the hopes of streamlining the workflows of other designers who join the company.
Even though I was hired primarily as a Product Designer, and I do love the focus on design & craft, my role has required me to also assume the responsibilities of a Product Manager.
Since September 2022, the 'Product' team at Caura has been a team of one (myself!) with direct support from the three co-founders. I report into the CEO, who acts as Product Owner.
This has required me to step into the shoes of a (senior) Product Manager, whilst maintaining the position of the sole designer on the team.
This has been a very steep learning curve, which has accelerated my exposure to all aspects of the product development process, including: business development, stakeholder management, systems design & ruthless strategic prioritisation.

Due to NDAs & ongoing internal projects, there are many more exciting features & work that I can't talk about. However, I am able and happy to share more examples of my work at Caura, including work on released features (on all properties, not just our mobile apps).
Jelly is a project with my partner in crime, Thomas Lopez.
It is a kids education app, helping primary school students learn maths, english & much more. It also includes features to help parents, including 'Homework Marker'; simply snap a photo of your child's work and it'll review it for you 📸 ✨
My role has been focused on the UI and UX for the mobile app.
Jelly was originally created to solve a burning pain point that my mum & 11-year-old sister faced!
My sister was preparing for the 11+ (high school entrance exams) and primary school SATs.
It felt like a real chore getting my sister to complete any school or tutor work.
I wanted to create a fun, simple way to encourage my sister to practise her maths & english each day.
It took four complete product iterations (Jelly originally started as a habit tracking app for my mum to encourage my sister's good habits!), but we finally landed on the UX format of the current app.
The real challenge with this product is retention, which we are trying to tackle through effective gamification. The app is only useful if my sister keeps coming back and benefitting from the app. Gamification efforts we have implemented so far:
We've been focused on shipping new features dedicated to solving tangental pain points - e.g. we now have a 'Parents' section in the app, with features such as 'Homework Marker' designed to increase daily usage.
As of early March 2024. Our metrics:
All with £0 spent on marketing!
(Not a product that solves a real problem, but rather a creative outlet that has let me develop a wide range of skills.)
Noise Complaint started as a DJ & production duo, with my partner in crime, Thomas Lopez, when we were living as students in London.
Focusing on showcasing the best of underground House & Techno, we have produced songs, thrown events (under the brand 'Loose Morals') and organised charity fundraising parties in Manchester, Edinburgh & Glasgow.
